How Much Does It Cost to Train As an Early Years Educator?

Early years teachers work with young kids up to the age of five. Is five years enough to have a positive and long-term effects on the wellbeing and development of kids? Yes. In fact, the first five years have critical importance in the life of young kids. If you want to become an early years teacher, you need to pursue ‘early years initial teacher training’ (EYITT). After this course, you will achieve the ‘early years teacher status’ (EYTS). 

Undergraduate early years teacher training 

The cost of training will be up to £9,250 and funding is available, but there will be no salary. The duration of your training will be 3 to 4 years. After your training, you will become an early years teacher. 

Graduate early years teacher training

The cost of graduate early years teacher training is around £7,000. You won’t earn any salary. Funding is available to cover the cost of the training that lasts about one academic year. 

Bursaries: 

  • If you own a first-class degree, the amount will be £5,000 
  • If you own  2:1 degree, the amount will be £4,000 
  • If you own a 2:2 degree, the amount will be £2,000

Graduate early years teacher training (employment-based)

The cost of training is £7,000 and the salary is given by the employer. Plus, funding is available to cover the cost. The training lasts around one academic year.
